CBFC : U/A
GENRE : Action Crime Drama
PLOT :-
The film starts with the partition of india and bangladesh in early 70's. Two small refugee boys namely bikram & bala will be escaping from the bangladesh camp to their own land calcutta by killing a police man. They earn by stealing coal from the trains in their childhood by becoming big goons in later 80's. Satyajeet(asst. commissioner of police) will be taking their case file under his inchage and simultaneously both bikram & bala will fall in love with a dancer called nandita. Bikram asks bala to hide in their dhanbad coal factory due to the shootout by bala in a theatre. During durga puja, bala will be coming to know that nandita is in love with bikram and the remaining follows the turn & bala's clash with bikram for that reason.
PERFORMANCES(ON-SCREEN) :-
Ranveer singh(bikram) packs his act in every type of situations. Arjun kapoor(bala) overacts in romantic & drama portions where his dance falls below when compared with ranveer. His courageous eyes is a plus factor. In the action blocks, both will be impressing with their black soil dusty appearance. Priyanka chopra(nandita) is a gorgeous beauty capable for a dancing role & she had some enough screen space. Many wanted Irrfan khan(satyajeet acp) in a much more interesting character than this extended special appearance act. Saurabh shukla will be unnoticed. Other important debut performers & the small boys are quite okay.
TECHNICAL :-
Editing by rameshwar S. bhagat is good enough. Production design by rajat along with the costumes depicted bengali's life structure. Stunts by sham kaushal & Vfx by reliance media works are not bad. Cinematography by aseem mishra is one of the major highlight in the film showing the howrah bridge & top angle shots often. Music by sohail sen is foot-tapping and background score by julius packiam is equal to that of music in songs.
DIRECTION :-
Story by ali abbas zafar had many reflections from the earlier indian dual hero subjects. Sanjay masoom's dialogues doesn't reach much to the viewers. Ali abbas zafar loosed the stream from the fans with his excessive speech oriented dramatic scenes in the Screenplay. The intro scenes and the twisted portions in the second half along with the interval frame will be his notable part in direction.
VERDICT :-
A REGULAR POPCORN ENTERTAINER FROM THE GOONS.
RATING :- 3/5
