X-MEN : DAYS OF FUTURE PAST(3D)(ENGLISH) MOVIE REVIEW by Srinath :

This movie is the seventh installment in the x-men series and it opened in India on 23rd May '14 along with the regional dubbed versions. It had a decent buzz among the indian fans & this one comes under the joint production of  bad hat harry productions, 20th century fox and marvel entertainment. The worldwide distribution for the film is done by the famous hollywood studio 20th century fox.

CBFC :  U/A

GENRE :  Action | Science fiction

PLOT :-

The film starts with a clash between the mutants and giant robots in the future world of moscow. After a magical escape from the place, every mutants of x-men will be uniting together in china against the robots to save the life of mutants thereby helping humans also from the robots. The ultra power robots were made by the scientist Bolivar trask (Peter) a few decades ago from the DNA & genes of a woman mutant called Mystique (Jennifer). Professor X (Patrick) with Magneto (Ian mckellen) decides to stop the scientist's action by going into the past so that the robots can de completely destroyed and he sends Wolverine (Hugh jackman) to the past. And in the past, wolverine makes his move wih the younger charles (James mcavoy) i.e. professor x along with erik (Michael) i.e magento. Mystique will be in a revenge with bolivar in the white house of washington and at the same time wolverine and charles will be trying to change that incident so they can save her from the scientist's action. On the contrary, erik tries to kill mystique because he thinks that if she dies the problems will be solved. But, she escapes from his shoot. From there, all the three namely wolverine-charles, mystique and erik will be intending to succeed independently. The Rest of the story focuses on the intention of mutants from the two different time period along with the wolverine's return from the past for a better future.

PERFORMANCES(ON-SCREEN):-

Hugh Jackman (wolverine/logan) served as the main bridge for the future and past where he has no major action scenes eventhough jackman travels throughout the  entire film. Jennifer Lawrence (mystique) looks fair with a clean characterization in the form of changing her skin to anyone's look. James Mcavoy (charles) appears with an opposite behaviour in his younger stage to that of his future behaviour. Michael fassbender (erik) maintaines silent act with a power of moving metals through his gestures. Peter dinklage (bolivar) much known as the short scientist delivers his casual act. Patrick steward (professor x) and Ian mckellen (magneto), the two old artists have their limited portions. Remaining mutant character artists gave their good support for the introduction and ending part of the film.

TECHNICAL :-

Editing by John ottman is actually fine but the film can be trimmed for some 10 minutes to avoid the lengthy duration in the simple mid-conversations. Visual effects and animation portions are splendid in 3D. Production design by john myhre and Action sequences makes the narration even stronger. Cinematography by Newton thomas sigel has its great visuals and the lighting adds extra artistic feel for the camera angle in the indoor scenes. Music by John Ottman takes the responsibility of shifting the viewers attention scene by scene along with the sound part added as an additional bonus point.

DIRECTION :-

Story by Simon, Matthew and Jane is surely a neat fictional plot for an x-men series genre and the dialogues are conveyed with a simple writing. Screenplay by Simon kinberg will not bore you largely because it maintains an attachment with the audience especially the emotions a mutant will have when the entire human beings are planning to eradicate their group. Bryan Singer, the man who directed the first two x-men films is back with this one. Bryan's direction clearly shows that this is how the superhero powers should be used cleverly for the written situations and the climax with an ending frame significantly shows everything that why this movie is not at all an ordinary fiction.

VERDICT :-

"X-MEN : DAYS OF FUTURE PAST INVITES YOU FOR AN ENGAGING SHOW FROM THE MUTANTS WHICH HAS THE RIGHT FICTIONAL NARRATION BLENDED WITH ITS TECHNICAL ELEMENTS"

RATING :-   3.5/5
