The movie was released worldwide on 29th August'14 in a record of 500 screens at the same time. Vijay babu & Sandra thomas jointly produced this flick under their friday film house production company.

CBFC :  U

GENRE :  Comedy | Political Satire

PLOT :-

The film gets its start with Sunny (Vijay babu) calling Francis kunjappan (Mukesh), a minister in the kerala government to send him a political consultant to increase Mr. John kory's fame ratings and make him win in the governor election for the state of california. As, Jagannathan (Mohanlal) is known for his political strategies among the malayalis francis makes a decision to send him to the states with an intention of pulling him down as he knows that his tricks won't work out successfully in that country. Having a desire to build a sports academy, jagannathan accepts it for a huge amount to make his entry into america along with his friends Jabbar (Baburaj) and Varkey (Aju Varghese). After starting his work in the states, jagannathan meets a call girl named Jessy (Ragini Nandwani) & expresses his love towards her. She nods forwardly for the sake of living with her only son. Jagannathan will be experimenting the ideas such as caste, language and many more which was followed in indian political campaigns to split the votes. As a result, kory's ratings increased rapidly and sunny was happy with the progress. But, a spoiler comes in the form of kory's nonsense act with the rest forming jagannathan's clever & funny works to clear the spoiler which also has his further real bandicoot underplay in the election.

PERFORMANCES(ON-SCREEN):-

Mohanlal ( Jagannathan ) solely has the potential to create a fun mania throughout the entire film. His usual dhoti style in the beginning is enough for the crowd to go gaga over it. Baburaj ( Jabbar ) and Aju Varghese ( Varkey ) were the sidekick buddies of lalettan. Their jokes worked at regular intervals. Ragini Nandwani ( Jessy ) looks like a pretty white doll and ofcourse, she is a new arrival to the malayalam industry as ragini earlierly made her small presence in vijay's thalaivaa. Mukesh ( Francis kunjappan ) is okay with his character of a funny politician while Vijay babu ( Sunny ) carries his part neatly. Poonam bajwa appeared in a special party number. The Supporting foreign characters like John kory and others acted accordingly to their respective roles in the film.

  TECHNICAL :-

Vivek harshan's editing is fine. Anbariv/Robair's stunts is not up to the mark as it actually doesn't bring the massy feel. Bawa/Julie ziah's art direction packs the needed props beautifully inside the frame. Costume designer & Make up artist should be credited for giving a handsome look to mohanlal in suits. Arvind krishna's cinematography is clean and cool with the night streets of california. Music by Arrora is fantastic with the beats sounding widely in the 'Adichu polikkam' song and his background score's base in the tone of a bagpiper is really the biggest key for lalettan's mass scenes.

SCRIPT & DIRECTION :-

Arun Vaidyanathan's story deals with his ideas that india and united states are same when it comes to the politician's act on reaching a shortcut route for their success. As this film is largely based on entertainment, the makers requested all in the beginning of the title card itself to keep the logic away. Dialogues by Ajayan venugopalan & arun are the original crackers. Arun's screenplay moves enjoyably except the uninteresting love track and mohanlal's sight on every girls with an imagination of dancing with them for his old songs itself becomes a bit tensed part when those things reach an extent. Direction by Arun vaidyanathan showed the situations of indians facing a language problem humorously but it would've been a much more interesting one if the same execution was maintained in the other comic places also.

VERDICT :-

" Peruchazhi ends up as a Decent Timepass show for the keralites to watch out during their onam festive season "

RATING :-   3.25/5

Anjaan (Tamil) Movie Review by Srinath :

The film was released globally on 15th August'14 in 1700+ screens along with its telugu dubbed version Sikander. Thirrupathi brothers & UTV motion pictures jointly produced and distributed the gangster flick worldwide.

CBFC :  U

GENRE :  Action-Masala

PLOT :-

The film starts with Krishna (Suriya) arriving to mumbai carrying a handicapped walking stick along with him in search for his brother raju. Taxi driver (Soori) accompanies him and soon, from a gangster he comes to know about the real life of his brother Raju bhai (Suriya), a don in andheri. Furtherly, krishna introduces himself to a bhai, who narrates the entire happenings in raju's life. Raju bhai lived and carried the mafia business with his close friend & partner named Chandru (Vidyut). Police commissioner's daughter Jeeva (Samantha) and raju will be in love with each other. Imran bhai (Manoj bajpai), another don threatens both raju & chandru not to come inside his business. Suddenly, chandru dies in a shootout. Raju suspects imran is the man behind chandru's death. From there, the story travels with further more flashbacks and turns revolving around the central character of raju bhai.

PERFORMANCES(ON-SCREEN):-

Suriya ( Raju bhai/Krishna ) brings himself into the arena of a fearless don with a makeover which brighted the character to look damn stylish and his performance gets a wider mass appeal among the fans. Samantha ( Jeeva ) appeared with some skinny outfits this time but her character's name was not clearly established in the first half. Vidyut jamwal's ( Chandru ) way of acting pushed his entire role itself into the level of a multi-starrer movie. Imran bhai ( Manoj bajpai ) did his part very well. Soori and Brahmanandam were used as comedy trespassers inside the action narration. Chitrangada singh looked red-hot in an item song. Other characters such as JK, bhai and many more gave their balanced support.

  TECHNICAL :-

Editing by Anthony is decent. Visual effects in the title card gave the film a bright start for itself. Rajeevan's art work and colourful costumes are the additional glitters. Stunts by Silva gained an high voltage attention from the viewers. Cinematography by Santosh sivan presented the film with some striking & classy visuals from the newly introduced red dragon 6k digital camera. Music by Yuvan shankar raja doesn't impress a lot other than the opening track ' Bang bang ' and his background score breaks the silence particularly in the action sequences.

SCRIPT & DIRECTION :-

Story by Lingusamy is a very routine one where this type of plot was seen in several underworld films. Dialogues by Brinda sarathy had a few repetitive punch liners working good among the audience. Screenplay by Lingusamy is brainlessly written with each and every twists are easily guessed by an ordinary movie buff itself and the romance/drama portions are really dull eventhough the pair had a neat chemistry. Lingusamy's direction is only style as it gives justice only to the fanatics of the star but what about others money, it remains unanswered.

VERDICT :-

" Anjaan is a typical mumbai based gangster masala which is low on the script level & high on the technical standards "

RATING :-   3/5
