Aisha meets guru in the police station and on seeing guru's situation, aisha desired to save his life. Guru was working under Caesar ( Remo ), a gangster politician from his yonger age. He falls in love with aisha because of the crazyness she had in her character of fulfilling other's desire before her death as aisha was suffering from a brain illness which will end her life quickly. At the same time, Rakesh ( Riteish ), a telephone service worker kills every women and girls who ever disturbs and make quarrels with him due to the mental stress that he can't keep his lovable wife Sulochana ( Aamna ) and his son happy from the economical problems faced by a middle class man in his daily life. From that clue, guru follows rakesh's son and confirms that rakesh is the man behind aisha's death during a murder attempt by rakesh in a bridge. PERFORMANCES(ON-SCREEN):-
Sidharth malhotra ( Guru ) scores with his simple acting which has a little grey shade. His tall & handsome looks often remind us like seeing younger amitabh. Riteish deshmukh ( Rakesh ) plays an antagonist character and it is sure that everyone will be freezed with riteish's performance. From this movie, audience should accept the statement that even riteish has the ability to pull the fans in non-comedy films. Shraddha kapoor ( Aisha ) is a pretty girl, who shows that even emotions can be controlled with innocence. Aamna sharif ( Sulochana ) also carried her role decently as a typical middle class woman. Shaad randhawa ( Aditya, CBI officer ) and Remo fernandes ( Caesar ) made their given part valuable with a good dialogue delivery. Kamaal R Khan ( Brijesh ) laughs and brainwashes often as rakesh's friend. Prachi desai's cameo appearance in an item number was used only to fill the glamour quotient whick lacked throughout the film. Remaining supporting actors including a child artist were used to a proper extent.
TECHNICAL :-
Editing by Devendra murdeshwar is okay as the screenwriting was not like the usual fast paced thrillers. DI/Colouring by Prime focus is high in its quality of the final output. Action by Javed-Aejaz is very normal because only with the Sound designing it looked better. Surely, SFX is a pillair for the action scenes. Cinematography by Vishnu rao is eye-catching with the lovable mauritius locals and also the camera doesn't lose its framing in showing a darker side. Music by Mithoon, Ankit tiwari & Soch is the biggest crowd puller for the film with all the tracks are in the form of a soothe melody. Background music by Raju singh doesn't live up to the impact made by the original tracks.
DIRECTION :-
Story by Tushar hiranandani is said to be rip-off from a korean film ' I Saw the Devil '. But, whatever the plot was a neat one and the dialogues by milap zaveri is well written. The Main disturbance to the entire film comes in the form of Tushar's Screenplay writing. His screenwriting with a moderate pace in the romantic portions are acceptable but in the the name of a thriller he carried out the same narration style even in these places also. The Interval block was also not at the right place. Being directed by the director of Aashiqui 2, Mohit suri's direction reflected the musical romance in many sequences and his way of making still sails eventhough the given screenplay is not perfect.
VERDICT :-
" Ek Villain is not so great but the top performances of the lead cast & soulful music makes it a watchable fare "
RATING :- 3/5
